Call to Worship

We hear now the message of 1 John:

God is love; every one who loves is born of God and knows God.

God is light; in God is no darkness at all.

When we walk in the light, we have fellowship with one another.

As we join together in worship this morning,

we offer praise to God who called us out of darkness

into this wonderful light and this fellowship of love.

Prelude – Holy (Santo)

Call to Worship (based on Psalm 65)

Happy are those drawn close to the Creator God:
those who dwell in the courts of divine justice,
who wake with joy in the morning of God’s hope,
who feast on the nourishment flowing from the good earth,
who rest at night safe in the protection of the Spirit.

Happy are those drawn close to the Creator God:

the Deliverer
who sets the mountains firmly in their resting place,
who wakes and sets the sun to shouts of joy,
who breathes the roiling seas to life
and plows the furrows of the earth with a hand
and sends the rain to water parched land
and weary people
and anxious spirits.

Happy is the good earth of the Creator God:

whose crown is the bounty of creation,
whose paths overflow with a rich harvest,
whose untilled meadows overflow with abundance,
whose hills are clothed with rejoicing,
whose fields are covered with a wild grace,
whose valleys are blanketed with sweet sustenance.

Let all the earth shout with joy!

Happy are those drawn close to the Creator God.
