Sunday School

Fall 2021 – We’re currently taking a break from adult Sunday School until it is safer to meet indoors once again. Families are using the Shine at Home curriculum; youth leaders and youth are deciding how and when to meet.

Sunday School for all ages meets at the church from 11:15 a.m. to noon (except no Sunday School during August).

For children, preschool through elementary school, we use a curriculum called Shine! Living in God’s Light, produced by MennoMedia, the publishing house of Mennonite Church USA. The Shine! curriculum explores stories and characters from the Bible on a three-year cycle, with themes changing quarterly.

Nursery care is available for children under the age of two years. (During worship, the nursery is open for children up to kindergarten.)

Two & Three year-old class meets in Basement Room 6 (when they’re not outside writing with chalk).

Age 4 – 5 Grade class meets in Basement Room 10/11 (when they’re not outside in the Peace Garden planting peas and flowers).

6-12 Grade meets in Basement Room 7.

Adult classes include opportunities that change quarterly and others that are ongoing throughout the year.

Fifth Sundays with Our Partner Congregations

When there are five Sundays in the month, on the fifth Sunday children, youth, and adults meet at 8:30 a.m. at one of the partner church buildings for breakfast and joint Sunday School with partner congregations Bethel AME, Salem Baptist, New Covenant Fellowship, and Champaign Church of the Brethren. On these Sundays, worship at FMC begins at 10:45am.

Current Sunday School Topics

Sunday School topics change quarterly.
