The C-U Reparations Coalition (CURC) Event, Featuring Robin Rue Simmons

The C-U Reparations Coalition (CURC) is excited to bring Robin Rue Simmons,  a dynamic speaker and former City Council member from Evanston, and founder of First Repair (firstrepair.org) to speak in Champaign. As an alderman, Rue was the architect of the nation’s first local-government-funded reparations program, allocating 10 million dollars over a 10-year period to African Americans harmed by a history of Evanston’s discriminatory housing policies. Over 120 communities in the U.S. are now exploring how they might follow Evanston’s lead.
