DESCRIPTION:First Mennonite will host a group viewing of the performance video of “Homegrown: An Insurrection Play” by Champaign native Dr. Nicole Anderson Cobb. “Homegrown” is a three-act drama that examines the events of January 6 insurrection from the perspective of a church community grappling with political polarization and its effects on local churches\, families\, and the broader community. The play was performed at the Urbana Station Theatre in December 2022. \nAll are welcome\, but please note that the play includes strong language\, violence\, and discussions of challenging social issues; not recommended for children under eleven.All are welcome. \nThen join the playwright for a discussion of the play and its themes on Sunday\, March 5 at 3 pm. here at First Mennonite. All are welcome. Dr. Anderson Cobb brings a wealth of experience from her teaching\, writing\, and advocacy work\, including hate crimes education and gun violence prevention. \n

SUMMARY:Informational  session about the MC USA Special Session of the Delegate Assembly
DESCRIPTION:Location: FMC sanctuary \nThere will be an informational session about the resolutions for consideration at the upcoming MC USA special delegate session\, to be held in Kansas City May 27-30. Pastor Michael and Sheryl Dyck will represent FMC at the special session and will host this informational session. All persons are invited to attend. Please contact Pastor Michael if you wish to attend and need child care. Feel free to bring a lunch to eat in a side room or outside before the informational session starts.
